The History
Amity Homes' founder - Shane Peterson - started Amity homes at a time when he had been building homes (as a project manager for other builders) for over two decades. People know and trust Shane, so he was often asked for advice by friends and family who were building their own homes...which is when Shane noticed something that changed everything:

Homeowners build their OWN homes differently than contractors who build homes

Shane noticed, for example, that...

Homeowners
Homeowners check on their homes - almost every day - and obsess about little details.
Contractors
Contractors check in at inspection times or when something goes wrong.
Homeowners
Homeowners speak up about little things that won't be seen when the home is done.
Contractors
Most contractors skip right on past little things like gaps in insulation, floor joints that stick up, holes in concrete, or a million other things that won't be seen when the home is done.
Homeowners
Homeowners clean up their homes. They sweep up and remove garbage multiple times. They don't allow subs to smoke inside their home to keep the smoke smell from getting into insulation, sheetrock, flooring, etc. Homeowners wouldn't allow subs to sweep garbage and dust into heating vents (something, unfortunately, that many subs do).
Contractors
Most Contractors don't think twice about garbage or smoking. Junk gets "buried" behind sheetrock and sawdust gets swept into vents all the time. Smoking in a home while it's being built is, well...common.
Homeowners
Homeowners educate themselves. They call around to lots of subs to make sure they're getting the best deal on the very best products.
Contractors
Most contractors lock in on what's cheapest and easiest and rarely (if ever) look beyond that.

Some stuff just falls into the "what people don't know won't hurt them" category.

This list could go on and on, but it's enough to show the ONE THING that makes an Amity Home different...
About Us
Amity Homes is All About ONE THING
In June of 1991 the movie City Slickers hit big screens and instantly became a hit, now viewed by many as the funniest movie of all time. City Slickers gave us something more than a few laughs, though. In the movie is found a very powerful pearl of wisdom.

It's that pearl that makes Amity Homes so different.

During dialogue between the show's two main characters, Mitch (the helpless city-slicker) and the gruff old cowboy Curly are chasing down stray cattle when the conversation (sparse as it was) turns to the topic of life. During the conversation Curly yanks his horse to a stop and turns to Mitch, and gives him the pearl:

Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?
Mitch: No. What?
Curly: This. [holding up one finger]
Mitch: Your finger?
Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and everything else don't (matter).
The Philosophy
The ONE THING that makes ALL the difference:

We build every home exactly as if it were our own. Our entire philosophy, process, and operating procedures have been built from the ground up by asking this simple question: What would a homeowner do, if they were building it themselves? That's how we build homes.

WE'VE BUILT OUR OWN HOME - OVER AND OVER AGAIN - FOR OVER TWO DECADES NOW...
Like a homeowner building for themselves, we do not compromise in the name of convenience. We are never "too busy" to get it right.

It's not uncommon to find us out on the jobsite at late hours in the evening or in the very early morning as we check constantly and tirelessly to make sure that things are done right.

...and you'll often see us there with a broom or shop-vac cleaning up your job-site - especially the places nobody notices.

You'll find that almost every sub and supplier in Utah knows us because we're constantly out there educating ourselves. Things change fast. Products change fast. It takes time to explore and stay on top of the best solutions.

But that's how YOU would do it if you were building your home yourself...so that's how we do it when we're building for you.

And that's our ONE THING...the Amity Golden Rule:
Do As THE HOMEOWNER Would Do

Many times you'll drop by your home for a visit and find us there working. Taking care of the little things that most home-builders and subs don't think to care about. But you'd care. So we care.

(By the way, we'll try not to startle you if you come by when it's dark)

An Amity Home is different. It's YOUR home.
The Amity Difference
The word Amity means Peace and Friendship

The ONE THING that makes an Amity Home so unique is how we obsess about building your home the way you would build it. Knowing that the little details have been looked after, and that things are done right (even the things you can't see) are what brings our clients the two things they are really looking for in a new home…

PEACE:
If you think about it, you don't dream about a new home so much as you dream about the times you'll spend. Much of that dreaming is about times of peaceful comfort within your home.

In those times, you don't see the Amity Homes difference…YOU FEEL IT.

FRIENDSHIP:
Your new Amity Home is where friends will become family and family will become friendsTM. An Amity home is built with every little detail taken into account. We know you'd build your own home with future memories made with friends and family in mind. So that's how we'll build it.

You add Friendship and Love…we'll take care of everything else.
